Madison Olsen, PsyD NCSP
Dr. Madison Olsen is a licensed psychologist in New York State and a nationally certified school psychologist. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who present with various challenges, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, obsessions, compulsions, school refusal, behavioral difficulties, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and related executive functioning difficulties, and autism.
Dr. Olsen takes a warm, genuine, and child-centered approach. She has extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure & Response Prevention, Parent- Child Interaction Therapy, Parent Management Training, Organizational Skills Training and Social Skills. Dr. Olsen has worked in various public and private schools, residential treatment facilities, and hospital settings.
During her pre-doctoral internship as the primary psychologist for the K-5 Emotional Support Program with the Harrison Central School District, Dr. Olsen developed her passion for ensuring that children receive the support necessary to grow and succeed. She has knowledge of programs and schools in Westchester County and neighboring cities/counties, she is well versed in the Committee on Special Education and Section 504 Committee, in addition to Response to Intervention (RtI). Dr. Olsen also has an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges middle school students endure as she is currently the middle school psychologist at a local Westchester public school. In her practice, Dr. Olsen supports families with accessing services, appropriate accommodations, and the development of social emotional goals within the school setting.
Dr. Olsen has also completed substantial training in neuropsychological assessment. At the Center for Pediatric Neuropsychology at the Mount Sinai Hospital Center, she assessed children and young adults of all ages. In addition she served as an adjunct professor at Yeshiva University in which she supervised graduate students through the assessment process. She highly values collaborating with families, schools, and other providers throughout the assessment and therapeutic process to ensure that each child’s needs are being met and to ensure that appropriate recommendations and interventions are being implemented.
Dr. Olsen received her masters and doctorate in School-Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, NY Association of School Psychologists and Westchester County Psychological Associates. She is also the chair of the Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue therapy committee, which supports children and adolescents who may have greater difficulty responding to traditional therapy modalities.
In her spare time, Dr. Olsen enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, being outdoors, and traveling.
